Being totally comfortable through the uncomfortable.
Your Promise to Yourself
Heal the Human. Heal the Home.
…a promise worth keeping.
The things people most often ask us — answered plainly, no jargon. Can't find yours? It's always welcome over a cup of tea.
Honestly? Not always — but it usually pays for itself. An architect helps you spend your budget where it actually matters, avoids expensive mistakes, and makes sure the finished home feels right, not just looks right. If you’re unsure, that’s exactly what a first chat is for.
Absolutely. We have a process called Build Your Brief, which we use to gain a better understanding of your project and form a brief around your needs and unique proposition. The fee for this is absorbed into our architectural fee when proceeding with our architectural services.
It’s not mysticism — it’s a memorable way to talk about good design. Wood, fire, earth, metal and water are our shorthand for the balance of light, flow, materials, warmth and orientation. Get those five in tune and a home simply feels calmer and works harder for you.
It depends on the scope — a small reno and a new build are very different animals. For most projects we work to a fee estimate rather than a fixed quote — an open-book approach that lets both of us see where the design time actually goes. Where the scope is small and clearly defined, we’re happy to set a fixed fee up front. Either way, you’ll always know what you’re paying for and why.
Yes. Planning permits, overlays and council requirements are part of what we do — we’ll guide the project through approvals and prepare the drawings and documentation needed along the way, so you’re not navigating it alone.
Every project has its own rhythm, but as a rough guide: a few months for design and approvals, then construction on top. We’d rather take the time to get it right than rush you into something you’ll live with for decades. We’ll give you a realistic timeline once we understand the scope.
That’s your call. We can stay alongside the build — helping you choose a builder, answering their questions, and keeping an eye on things so the finished home matches the intent. Some clients want us hands-on to the last detail; others just at the key moments.
Melbourne is home, but no — we travel. Regional Victoria, interstate, the occasional adventure further afield: if the project’s a good fit, we’ll come to you. Just tell us where home is.
Absolutely — and often we’d prefer it. The most comfortable, lowest-impact home is frequently the one you already have, made smaller, smarter and better-loved. Renovations are some of our favourite work.
Building physics is the science of how heat, air, light and moisture move through your home. In plain terms: it’s what makes a place warm in winter, cool in summer, cheaper to run and healthier to live in. It’s comfort you can actually measure.
No hard sell, promise. We sit down (tea optional but encouraged), you tell us about your site, your budget and how you want to live, and we share some honest first thoughts. You’ll leave with a clearer head — whether or not you decide to work with us.
There's no such thing as a silly question about your own home. Send it our way — we love this part.
