A Home That Feels Right
Beyond how it looks — how it feels to live in. The light, the flow, the warmth, and the quiet sense that everything is in its right place.
Aligning wood, fire, earth, metal & water...
Being totally comfortable through the uncomfortable.
Your Promise to Yourself
Heal the Human. Heal the Home.
…a promise worth keeping.
We don't start with floor plans. We start with what matters to you — then bring the five elements and modern building science together to design a home that feels as good as it looks.

Heal the human, and the home heals too.
A home is a reflection of the life lived inside it
Every project begins with a conversation about you — your goals, your rhythms, how you want your home to feel. Doing that inner work first, as a client and as an architect, is what leads to a better home. The drawings come later.
We believe good architecture works on three levels at once: the physical — how a building meets the people in it; the ethereal — how space is shaped by light; and the spiritual — the sense of refuge and calm a home can offer. The ancient five-element traditions and modern building science are simply the tools we use to bring all three into balance.
And we favour restraint. The most comfortable home is often a smaller, smarter, better-loved one — not a bigger one. We'd rather design less, beautifully, than more, thoughtlessly.
How a building meets the people in it — and the planet around it.
How space is shaped and defined by light.
The sense of refuge, comfort and calm a home can offer.
Outcomes, not just buildings
Beyond how it looks — how it feels to live in. The light, the flow, the warmth, and the quiet sense that everything is in its right place.
We bring the five elements — wood, fire, earth, metal and water — into balance across orientation, flow, light and materials.
Honest, healthy, natural materials and a light touch — homes designed with restraint and realistic about how you’ll really live.
We start with the inner work — who you are, how you live — and design as a genuine two-way conversation, not a delivery.
Real building-science rigour means genuine thermal comfort in every season — warm in winter, cool in summer, not just good numbers on a page.
We make the complex simple. You’ll always understand your options, the trade-offs, and what each choice means for your home.
We believe no architectural project can ever be created more than once. Because of that, we love to put moments up for you to browse — small ideas and details that show the way we think about particular things.
We would much rather implement an idea than have someone arrive saying “we want this home!” (pointing at someone else's project). Moments are special, and your project is special — it's about what you bring to this beautiful world.
a little more about what we believe…
“Being totally comfortable through the uncomfortable.” Our scrapbook of beliefs — on inner work, light, restraint, and what turns a house into a home.
“The inner work is the best work you can do to prepare for a cosy home.”
(or your block, your renovation, your what-if)
We usually start with a free 30-minute conversation — a chance to talk through your project, your hopes for it, and how we might help bring them to life.
An occasional letter on architecture, balance and building well. Ideas worth sharing, never noise. (A noisy noise annoys an Oyster most.)
